Guest: Caleigh Haber-Takayama
Age: 28
Location: Los Angeles
Bio: Born and raised along the California coast, Caleigh was diagnosed at birth with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease that causes thick and sticky mucus to clog the airways in the lungs and affect many other organs in the body. Growing up, Caleigh stayed healthy through sports and social activities. She later moved to San Francisco to attend culinary school. Despite her best efforts to balance health and happiness, she found herself with end-stage lung disease, frequently hospitalized and requiring a double lung transplant to live longer. While waiting for a transplant and after receiving new lungs in October 2015, she dedicated her life to awareness and advocacy for cf, organ transplant, genetic disease and chronic illness. She went on to meet the love of her life, travel and get married. After only a year and a half post-transplant, her body went into organ rejection and again she was found fighting for her life. She was hospitalized often and in January she became so sick she was medically evacuated to Los Angeles where she lived in the hospital until receiving her second gift of life - another double lung transplant June 8, 2018. She now lives a successful life achieving new goals every day -- including chronicling her journey and beginning her own legacy through her foundation Fight2Breathe.

Ep 19 - Davis Zavik - The World Needs more... Empathy & Compassion
Monday Oct 08, 2018
Monday Oct 08, 2018
Guest: Davis Zavik
Age: 28 years old
Location: Miami Beach, FL
Bio: New mom, wife, author of Assisted Living, Everything you Need to Know to Compassionately Care for your Elderly Parent, Residential Assisted Living Facility owner, Sociology graduate from the University of Miami
The world needs more:
1. Compassion
2. Empathy
Wow Factor: My ability to think ahead, act in a timely manor and organize my schedule. Growing up with a younger brother, I had to think at least one step ahead if I wanted to have a say in what we were doing, where we were going etc. So I think I learned from a young age that if I didn’t think ahead, I wouldn’t get to sit next to the person I wanted to at family dinners, or play with the toy of my choice instead of my brother getting to take it first. When I was younger I also sailed a tall ship around the world and I think that greatly impacted my character today. Onboard we had to be on time and if we were more than 90 seconds late we were reprimanded- the reason being that they would have to assume a man overboard drill for safety purposes. So I learned very quickly the value of being on time when that was a daily focus 24/7 for an entire year of my life. And as a new mom, I think everyone can understand the importance of schedules. Be it sleep, pumping or feeding schedules- you have to pay attention to your time. I think there’s a lot I still have to learn, but I’m really good at time, organization and thinking ahead.Favorite color: Scarlet red although you wouldn’t know that from looking at my closet of mostly black clothes
